Late Season Deer Hunt

Every hunter has a story about their first time in the woods—the quiet morning, the shared knowledge, the first connection to their harvest. This event is designed to be the beginning of your story. Join the Kinfolk Hunting Collective for an immersive, community-focused introduction to deer hunting in the beautiful Albany region of New York.

This is more than a hunt; it's a holistic learning experience. We will gather together in a shared house where we’ll build community, share meals, and learn side-by-side. Throughout the weekend, our experienced mentors will guide you through every aspect of the deer hunting tradition. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive, welcoming, and empowering introduction for the brand-new hunter.

Together, we will explore:

  • The Hunt and the Habitat: Learn the fundamentals of crossbow safety and shooting, ethical hunting practices, and how to read the landscape. We will discuss deer biology and behavior to gain insights into the animals and the land we share.

  • From Field to Table: Participate in hands-on demonstrations of processing and butchering, understanding how to honor and care for your harvest.

  • A Community of Hunters: This is a chance to build lasting connections. Share stories and ask questions in a supportive space with mentors and other new hunters who are on the same journey.

Who is this for?

All skill levels are welcome, but this hunt is designed with the brand-new hunter in mind. No prior experience is necessary. This is a perfect opportunity to build a strong foundation of skills and connect with the Kinfolk community, which will open doors to more advanced programming in the future.

Our mission is to grow a more inclusive and equitable hunting community. To honor this commitment, preference will be given to applicants from communities historically underrepresented in hunting, especially BIPOC, Queer folks, and Women.

Room and board will be provided at no cost to all participants.

Applications are due by the end of the day on November 14th, 2025.

We will let you know if you have been selected or by end of day Nov 19th.
