Firearm Antlerless Deer Hunt

A hunter’s journey often begins with learning to take from the land, but the deeper calling is to learn how to give back. This hunt is an opportunity to do just that. We are inviting a small select group of our experienced mentees to participate in a special management hunt during New York’s early antlerless season—a critical tool for conservation.

This event is a hands-on lesson in stewardship. The primary goal is to support forest regeneration by helping to manage the local deer population. It's a chance to learn firsthand how ethical, regulated hunting plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

Hosted at the Neversink Preserve, our group will be camping together to build community and deepen our understanding of conservation. This immersive experience will focus on:

  • Advanced Skills & Autonomy: We will focus on the unique strategies of firearm hunting, and for the first time, mentees will have the opportunity to hunt solo, putting their training and instincts into practice.

  • The Science of Stewardship: Learn why management hunts are essential for the health of our forests and wildlife.

  • Community & Mentorship: As experienced members of our community, this is a chance to share your own journey and learn from others who are equally committed to conservation.

Who is this for?

This event is specifically designed for mentees who have progressed through our introductory programs and are ready to explore a deeper level of hunting ethics and practice. Participation is by invitation only and serves as a next step in your journey as a hunter-conservationist.
