Turkey Hunting 101

There is nothing quite like the first time you hear a gobble break the silence of a spring morning.

The spring woods can feel like a mystery, especially when you’re trying to track down a wild turkey for the first time. We’re here to help you decode it. This evening is designed to take the guesswork out of your first season, providing a clear roadmap from curiosity to your first sunrise in the field. Join us to build the skills and community you need to head into the woods with confidence this spring.

Kinfolk Hunting Collective is being generously hosted by the Filson Flagship Store in NYC for a comprehensive introduction to turkey hunting.

Turkey hunting is about more than just the harvest; it’s about understanding the intricate behavior of the wild turkey and the incredible conservation success story of this resilient bird. We’ve designed this two-hour session specifically for the beginner. We’ll strip away the jargon and focus on the essentials you need to feel confident this season:

  • The Basics: Understanding turkey biology and behavior.

  • The Rules: Navigating NY state regulations along with safe and ethical hunting practices.

  • The Gear: What you actually need in your pack (and what you don't).

  • The Tactics: An intro to calling, decoys, and woodsmanship.

  • The Why: The history of turkey conservation and our role as stewards.

At Kinfolk Hunting, we believe the outdoors belong to everyone. You aren’t a guest here—you’re kin. No matter your background or experience level, come pull up a chair and get ready for the spring season.

This event is free and open to all (18 and older).
